Become a Regular Garden VolunteerWould you like to be a regular garden volunteer,
&/or tend one of the community garden boxes (with NO wait list)? Ryall Park Therapeutic Community Garden Across the parking lot from the Queensborough Community Centre, New Westminster, BC Volunteer Days - Saturday Afternoons 1:30 – 4:30 pm Saturday, October 7th Saturday, October 28th Saturday, November 18th You will gain experience in plant care and identification, as well as orchard and pollinator meadow management. You will also learn about native plants and organic gardening methods, watering schedules and irrigation techniques, best practices for gardening in community plots, and so much more! The volunteer activities on each day will depend on the needs of the garden (and people who attend), as well as the weather. This is also a great time to bring any of your gardening questions to Cheney. Cheney is an Organic Master Gardener, and one of the hearts (and sets of hands) responsible for dreaming up and building Ryall Park Therapeutic Community Garden. She welcomes all garden questions and conversations! Please dress to get dirty and bring garden gloves if you have them. Volunteer opportunities may include: - Caring for the orchard trees - Tending the pollinator meadows - Stocking the Seedling Library - Managing the compost bins - Assisting with the Forest Garden - General plant care and garden maintenance Training and guidance to learn about each aspect of the garden will be provided - no experience necessary! Volunteers will be invited to take home extra plants as well as herbs, seeds, and any produce ready to harvest
All Volunteer Days are currently scheduled on specific Saturday afternoons and will be preceded by an optional morning workshop ($25-35).
