Solstice and Strawberries Celebration

Single Session | $25
All taxes are included
Meeting Place:
Forest Garden area at  Ryall Park
838 Ewen Ave, New Westminster
Picture
Celebrate the summer solstice with stories and strawberries!

Come and enjoy a Garden Tour with Cheney Creamer, one of the garden’s creators, for a sneak peek into the history, the building process, and her dreams for the future of the garden.

Cheney will share her perspectives on rebuilding traditional indigenous food and medicine corridors through Forest Gardening and will give a short lesson on native BC strawberries, their history and best practices for cultivation and care.

Everyone will have an opportunity to gather some plants from the Forest Garden to take home. There will be strawberry plants that can be taken home to be potted up or planted in your garden, as well as a range of wild herbs to harvest (Likely wild mint, wild bergamot/bee balm, and western yarrow).

Please bring containers to take home strawberry plants and bags for any herbs you may harvest. Soil and pots will not be provided, but any plant roots/stems can be wrapped in damp paper towel until you get home.

Parking:  Queensborough Community Centre Lot (920 Ewen Ave, New Westminster, BC V3M 5C8)
The Garden is located just across the parking lot from the community centre.
